The material

The basic materials comprise pewter, stainless steel and aluminium. The production process, including final polishing, is solely manual, giving each article a touch of the special and unique.

Polished tin / pewter

The basic material for creations by Carrol Boyes. Polished pewter possesses a fine shine like silver, but, in contrast, does not tarnish. Pewter permits working into sculptural forms in a variety typical for Carrol Boyes. Functional objects such as knife blades, however, are composed of stainless steel.

Stainless Steel

Rust-proof products are created from punched sheets of stainless steel or from cast into forms – the former a less costly alternative which guarantees absolute form consistency. The latter process emphasises the artistic aspect of the product and creates functional sculptures which only Carrol Boyes has created in so great an array.

Aluminium

With the design of bowls, vases and other larger objects, the desire arose for a lighter material that would correspond to the rest of the collection style. Aluminium fulfilled this need for a harmonic complement to tin and stainless steel. As aluminium parts are cast by hand, they display the unmistakable hallmark of a handcrafted work of art of the highest quality.
